The City of Spearman and the Spearman Beautification Board are sponsoring a community cleanup week! Let's get out and help spruce Spearman up before winter!
We will have IN-TOWN dumping locations and FREE dumping at the landfill for Spearman residents!
***Need items hauled off but not the means to get it to the landfill? Know of somone who could use the help? Call Judy, The Chamber or City Hall and arrangements will be made to have the items picked up and hauled to the landfill for FREE! We have people ready to help.***

Officer DeHoyos was sworn in last week as the newest member of our police department — fresh out of the police academy and ready to serve! This week he hit the streets to begin his field training, the next step in his journey as a Spearman police officer.
Whether you see him out with his training officer, at a school event, or just around town — say hello and give him a proper Spearman welcome!

NOTICE OF GAS LINE REPLACEMENT
Beginning September 8, the City’s Utility Maintenance Crew will replace the gas line in the alley between the 1100 blocks of Wilmeth Drive and Linn Drive. The project is expected to take approximately one month to complete.
If gas service must be temporarily interrupted, affected homeowners will be notified individually in advance.
Each year, the State requires the City to replace 12% of its gas lines. Completion of this project will fulfill the State-mandated replacement of 2,100 feet for this year.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we complete this important infrastructure improvement.

Road Closure Notice – Hwy 207 & 7th Street Drainage Improvements
Drainage repair work has officially begun at the intersection of Hwy 207 and 7th Street.
Traffic Impacts:
• Today: The intersection will be closed until approximately 5:00–6:00 p.m.
• Beginning Monday, August 3: The intersection will be closed for approximately two weeks while crews complete the drainage improvements.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as this important infrastructure project moves forward. These repairs are a necessary investment in improving drainage and enhancing the long-term safety and reliability of this intersection.
We encourage motorists to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and exercise caution when traveling near the work area.

Back-to-School Pool Schedule
Back-to-school season is here, and we're wrapping up another great summer at the pool! As everyone prepares for the new school year, we're trying something new with our schedule.
Our last regular day of summer swimming will be Thursday, August 6, with open swim from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We'll also have our Family Night that evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The pool will reopen with our back-to-school hours on Sunday, August 16.
Back-to-School Pool Hours:
Sundays: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Mondays: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
We appreciate everyone for another fun summer and look forward to seeing you during our new back-to-school schedule!

Early this morning (around 5:25 a.m.), a magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck just southeast of Spearman. It was felt as far as Amarillo, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa. As of this posting, no damage or injuries have been reported but we want our residents prepared, not surprised. Aftershocks are likely. Earthquakes this size are often followed by smaller aftershocks for days, sometimes weeks. Most will be minor, but stay alert.
If you feel shaking:
*Drop, Cover, and Hold On — get under sturdy furniture, protect your head/neck, hold on until shaking stops
*If you're in bed, stay there and cover your head with a pillow
*If outdoors, move away from buildings, power lines, and trees
*If driving, pull over away from overpasses/bridges and stay in the vehicle until shaking stops
After an aftershock:
*Check yourself and others for injuries before checking property
*Inspect your home for gas leaks (smell of gas, hissing sound), damaged wiring, and structural cracks
*Check chimneys, water heaters, and shelving for shifting or damage
*Keep an eye on kids and pets, who may be frightened
